Marymount University Chapel

Location: Arlington, VA
Type: Chapel Renovation
Client: Marymount University

The Sacred Heart of Mary Chapel on the Marymount University Campus is the center and focal point of the University’s student life, mission, and charter. The university was founded in 1950 and the chapel building is one of the campus’ earliest buildings.

The scope of the project included the addition of a new Georgian style entry portico to provide shelter from the weather, emphasis to the chapel entrance, and create a stronger building presence on the campus. New arched custom insulated exterior windows were installed to provide better light and thermal performance and allow for the installation of twenty-two newly commissioned stained glass windows.

The renovation also included new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, and audio visual systems. The interior was completely renovated with all new floor, wall, ceiling and chancel finishes were provided along with new pews and furniture.
