Location: Arlington, Va.
Project type: government permit offices
Client: Arlington County Government
MTFA Architecture provided the programming, planning and design for this 25,000-square-foot office facility. It expands the existing capacity of government offices to meet projected growth needs and is organized to create a more productive work environment.
Located in the Arlington County Courthouse complex, the design promotes a collaborative permitting process. Its facilities successfully organize various public and office space requirements, providing leadership and associated departments with orienting, efficient and secure spaces, both tailored and flexible.
The design features a clean, well-detailed, modern aesthetic using natural materials such as slate, metal, linoleum, integrally colored concrete and custom acoustic treatments. This project is designed to exceed the USGBC LEED Silver standards while meeting budget expectations. The design has transformed how the permitting process occurs in Arlington through an innovative model that facilitates the work flow in a professional, orienting and accessible manner.
